Borland
International, Inc. announced the
appointment of John Floisand, 52, to vice
president of U.S. Sales. Floisand, has
over 25 years of sales experience, most
recently with
Apple
Computer, Inc. where he was
responsible for worldwide sales.
"I have known John for over 10 years,"
said Delbert W. Yocam, Borland's Chairman
and CEO. "When I was president of Apple
Pacific, John worked for me as vice
president of Apple Pacific Sales, and
later was key to growing revenues in the
region from $1 billion to $3 billion in
five years. John has shown time and again
the ability to not only grow revenues, but
also to build strong, dedicated teams. I
feel very fortunate to have such a strong,
experienced executive join the Borland
team."
Floisand plans to leverage his
experience in sales, customer service,
operations and support to help build
Borland's direct support business. A key
component of Borland's sales plan will
involve increasing relationships with VARs
and systems integrators in order to extend
support for corporate customers.
Additionally, Floisand plans to improve
the segmentation of Borland's product
range, packaging, prices, distribution and
support in order to better address the
full range of customer's development needs
-- from the desktop to the enterprise.
"I am excited about joining the new
management team at Borland," said
Floisand. "Del is building a strong team
with great leadership. With its excellent
technology, great products and loyal
customer base, Borland has the ingredients
for an optimistic future."
During Floisand's 11 years at Apple
Computer, he held various key management
positions, including: senior vice
president of Worldwide Sales from 1996 to
1997; president of Apple Pacific from 1991
to 1996; vice president of Sales, Customer
Services, Operations and Support from 1988
to 1991; and director of U.K. Sales from
1986 to 1988. Prior to joining Apple
Computer, Floisand was the managing
director of Base2 in South Africa and was
responsible for Apple Computer product
distribution.
Floisand studied Electronics at
Worcester College in the U.K., and
received a bachelor-equivalent degree in
Marketing from Columbia University, New
York.
