Paramount Pictures' First-Ever Enhanced CDs The Best of Star Trek 30th Anniversary Special

 

GNP Crescendo Records continues to go where no label has gone before with their eighteenth Star Trek soundtrack: Paramount Pictures' "Star Trek: First Contact." This project continues the record label's tradition of releasing virtually every Star Trek soundtrack from television and film. The newest album is an enhanced CD that plays audio on CD players and has moving pictures and interviews (Berman, Goldsmith, Frakes) plus a few surprises when played on CD-ROM (Macintosh or Windows compatible). CD has 14 tracks including two pop songs -- Roy Orbison's "Ooby Doobie" and Steppenwolf's "Magic Carpet Ride." The film stars the NEXT GENERATION cast led by Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, LeVar Burton.

Returning to compose/conduct the score is prolific film-music master Jerry Goldsmith, composer of the first Star Trek full-length feature.

GNP Crescendo Records is also releasing the "The Best of Star Trek 30th Anniversary Special" Enhanced CD including for the first time on one collection the original music, re-mastered, of the main title themes and series' scores from the original STAR TREK television series, NEXT GENERATION, DEEP SPACE 9 and VOYAGER, and the video trailer for STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT. Many of the soundtracks are Emmy-award winners and have received Best Soundtrack awards from the National Association of Independent Record Distributors (NAIRD). Star Trek is virtually the only television series to consistently incorporate an orchestra into the score of all the episodes and main titles.
