Web Week to Be Available in Australia

Alan M. Meckler, Chairman and CEO of Mecklermedia Corporation , today announced that Mecklermedia has entered into an agreement with KNS, an Australian business events organizer and MecklermediaÌs trade show partner in Australia, to jointly publish Web Week.

The two companies will jointly publish the Australian edition of Web Week in August. "Just as Internet World Australia has become the dominant Internet business-to-business trade show in Australia, we believe that Web Week has the same potential on the print side," stated Meckler. "Web Week has become the number one business-to-business newspaper for the Internet community in the United States and it can fill the same role in Australia.

We have licensed versions of Web Week in Singapore and Brazil, but this will be the first version that we have actually invested in," added Meckler. Web WeekÌs Australian launch will coincide with the second annual Internet World Australia trade show event to be held August 20 - 22, 1996 at the Darling Harbor Convention Centre in Sydney. Web Week Australia, which will follow a controlled circulation model, will initially be published as a monthly, and as the market develops, its frequency will increase.

The newspaperÌs first issues will borrow 60% of its editorial from the American edition, and future editions will be largely written and produced by Australian journalists. Web Week, the "Newspaper of Web Technology and Business Strategy", released its first issue in April 1995 as a monthly, and increased its frequency in April 1996 to biweekly.
