Yamaha CD Recorder Products Spin to AdvanSys

Advanced System Products, Inc. (AdvanSys), a manufacturer of SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) host adapters, announced that Yamaha Corporation of America will deliver the CDR 100 Compact Disc recorder/player peripheral with the AdvanSys AdvanSCSI ABP5140 SCSI host adapter board as original equipment.

Available immediately, the Yamaha/AdvanSys combination offers users a high-performance CD solution that meets their most demanding text, audio and image needs.

The Yamaha CDR100 internal drive delivers recording and playback speeds of up to 4X, while the AdvanSys host adapter provides data transfer rates of 10 Mbytes/sec in Fast SCSI mode.

"AdvanSys' partnership with Yamaha underscores our commitment to delivering easily compatible, high-quality SCSI solutions to the OEM market," said George Moore, vice president of sales and marketing for AdvanSys.

"By providing the high-performance SCSI alternative at an aggressive price, we're helping OEMs maintain stable cost structures and avoid fluctuations in SCSI channel pricing. AdvanSys believes that this will empower OEMs like Yamaha to pass cost savings on to the consumer and stimulate demand in the peripheral market."

Yamaha selected the ABP5140 because it met their strict requirements for performance, quality and reliability, as well as attractive pricing. Quick set-up and configuration for end user customers was also a key factor for Yamaha, as the ABP5140 supports Plug and Play and SCAM and features AdvanSys' menu-driven AdvanceWare automated installation program for non Plug and Play systems.

An additional point of value for the ABP5140 is AdvanSys' limited lifetime guarantee, the first and only such warranty in the SCSI host adapter industry.

"AdvanSys technology helps Yamaha deliver the best range of CD recording solutions to the market and offer customers a great value," said Gerry Tschetter, product and marketing manager for the consumer products division at Yamaha Corporation of America. "We anticipate that customers will embrace the attractive price/performance combination that we're offering and choose the Yamaha/AdvanSys solution."
